After we got our fill of wedding cupcakes last Saturday (here) on we went to the food tasting. Since J&A are getting married at a venue that does not have its own kitchen, they had to choose a caterer. And the caterer they chose was unbelievable.
Unlike the food tasting event J & I experienced a few years ago, where it was more of an event with other couples there also tasting the food, seeing the venue all dressed up, etc J&A had their caterers undivided attention. We had a private tasting room, a server to cater to our drink choices, a host to discuss the food options, and even a bar manager who brought over wines for us to sample in case J&A would like to serve them at their wedding. It was very impressive to say the least.
J&A were asked to choose 7 appetizers and 3 entrees to taste. Everything was delicious! I snagged a quick photo of some of the apps before we devoured them.
Isn't the green tomato a nice touch on the plate? They even cut the bottom so that it was a flat surface. Oh you fancy. I won't tell you which appetizers they picked so that wedding guests will be surprised, but 2 out of the 3 here made the cut. Yummy!
Next the bar manager swung over with just a few wines for us to sample....
I somehow missed a picture of the entrees but they were all fabulous. A chicken dish, beef dish, and fish option were all tasted. And I would be happy to dine on any of the three the day of their wedding. They are planning on offering two options which works out great for me. I always make sure J&I get different dinners so that we can try both. :)
As a surprise, the caterer then brought out a few passed dessert options for J&A to consider, in addition to their wedding cupcakes. Needless to say, we all loved the boston cream pie martini, peanut butter cookies dipped in chocolate served with a spiked chocolate raspberry milkshake, and mini whoopie pies -
Lastly, we had the opportunity to taste their cake offerings. So of course we tried them. :)
Yes, that is a painter palette of cake, frosting, and filling options. And the stick looking thing in the top left corner is indeed a paint brush made of chocolate. Like I said, pretty, pretty, fancy over here.
Like I mentioned in the cake tasting post (here), I was so happy and honored to be part of J&A's wedding decisions. Now, if only it was August so I could eat all this fabulous food again!
