Wedding Season - C&B Tie the Knot!

I'm a few months late on this recap but since I love looking back on these posts, I'm sharing it anyways. This wedding was unbelievable. So many gorgeous details!

I blogged about Corey's shower here but missed her bachelorette party as it was hosted in Miami and I was nearly 8 months pregnant. I thought it best I sit that one out.

So I just couldn't wait for the wedding. It was my only wedding this year, and as it was for one of my close girlfriends, I knew it was going to be a blast. It was also going to be somewhat of a mini college reunion seeing as the bride and groom were college sweethearts. Like I said, I couldn't wait!

The Ceremony

The wedding was held at The Glen Island Harbor Club. Check out that view above! The weather was gorgeous, but hot if I remember correctly. So being inside but surrounded by windows was perfect. But what was even better was the love you could feel in that room. It was a beautiful ceremony.

And something happened during C&B's ceremony that I had never experienced before but just loved. The minister (possibly JoP, I can't remember) asked the maid of honor and best man to put their hands over C&B's. And called attention to the fact that they stand up there to support C&B not only today, but throughout their marriage. It was so sweet! And so true. We choose our maid of honor and best man for a reason, they are very important people in our lives who we turn to for guidance at times.

The Reception

Cocktail hour was held on the patio of the venue. Again, look at these views! This venue was so gorgeous. And the amount of food available during cocktail hour was insane! I did my best not to fill up before dinner. :)

There were fresh flowers everywhere. And omg were they gorgeous!

Mr. & Mrs.!

College roommates. We did a great job color coordinating. ;)

I love how Jackie & Corey have become great friends down in Charlotte!

J&A!

We tried really hard to get a Bentley picture but there were so many of us that it was way too hard to coordinate. It was certainly fun though!

Soo many amazing, and hilarious!, memories with this group over 4 years of college.

Woah baby belly! :)

After snapping these last few pics we headed out to grab the shuttle back to the hotel. Well, let me tell you - something incredible happened. We walked downstairs to find fresh hot pretzel and italian ice! Omg, the lemon italian ice was amazing. Such a treat!

I was a little nervous about being the only completely sober one at a wedding. I know that sounds ridiculous. But it's true. And I have to say, I had soo much fun! I also impressed many by staying up til the wee hours of the morning. In my eyes, there were very few nights left out with friends for a while. Gotta make the most of them!

Congratulations Corey & Brandon!

You threw one hell of a party! And we couldn't be happier for you two.

The Sweetest Bridal Shower

Seeing as we attended this wedding last weekend, I think it's time to get the bridal shower recap up! I don't even know where to begin with this shower, Corey's bridesmaids did such an amazing job with it. There were so many thoughtful details!

But first, let's start off with the bride. Cor and I were college roommates sophomore-senior year. There were 5 of us total and we had so.much.fun.together. Period. I love these girls and am so grateful we're still in touch (how has it been 6 years already since we graduated??!). As you'll see from the photos below, Corey has one of the best smiles ever. It's contagious really. And its a true representation of her personality - happy, bubbly, sweet to a fault.

And so I couldn't be happier for her, marrying her college sweetheart. Someone I've grown to know better actually since college, and someone I know is absolutely perfect for her. More importantly, they're perfect for each other.

So let's jump into the bridal shower details -

Bright sunflowers in mason jars and burlap runners adorned every table.

The gifts table with such sweet details as photos of the happy couple and the cutest Mr. & Mrs. pillow

This game was such a hit! We all knew Corey at different phases of her life so for those of us who met her in college, it was fun to see all her baby pictures, and teenage pictures - though don't we all wish those didn't exist. Awkward years ha.

The bridesmaids that hosted the shower made these coasters. Yes, that's right - they made them! And they are so nice. Think plain tiles, scrapbook paper, and modge podge. Genius. And I give them a ton of credit, these must have taken quite a few hours to piece together.

Messages for the couple to open up on their 1st, 5th, 10th, 25th, and 50th wedding anniversary. So sweet! The bottles were also brought to the wedding for wedding guests to provide their well wishes and advice.

The food was all delicious, as were the desserts. I may have tried one of each....

The lovely bride with her mom and MOH/sister assisting her with the gifts. Corey & Brandon actually live down in Charlotte so many of us shipped our gifts and brought something small to the shower.

All the college girls.

And last but not least, a roommates picture. <3

Now I cannot wait to share some photos from this wedding. I was up wayy past my bedtime celebrating! Totally worth it too.

If I had gotten my act together and posted this recap prior to the wedding I would definitely end this post saying Corey will be the most gorgeous bride and I can't wait to see her dress! But now I can end this saying Corey was the most gorgeous bride and her dress was incredible!! So stay tuned, a wedding recap will occur eventually. ;)

What I Wore: Wedding Style, Part III

Sadly, our wedding season has come to an end. So this will be my last What I Wore recap of Wedding attire. I had so much fun finding the right outfit for each and every wedding we went to this summer. And my curling iron sure got a workout! This seemed to be the year of wearing my hair down to weddings. Something I never used to do.

Wedding #1
Dress: Calvin Klein (via Rue La La), on sale here
Necklace: Monogram from Etsy (gift)
Bracelet: Target
Watch: Michael Kors
Shoes: Ralph Lauren (via TJ Maxx years ago)

Original wedding recap here

Wedding #2
Dress: Nordstrom
Necklace: C. Wonder (borrowed!)
Bracelets: Alex & Ani
Watch: Micahel Kors

Original wedding recap here

I actually had all intentions of wearing my hair up to this wedding but thought I'd be sweet and ask J what he'd prefer. He said down. Welp, so glad I went out and bought the bobby pins I forgot to pack. You can never have too many of those though, right?

What's your wedding style?
I've realized that I tend to stick to simple dresses, no pattern or busy print. Weird, huh? I'm not really sure why because I always love the fun dresses I see on others. Maybe I'll branch out next year. :)

If you missed the past wedding wear recaps, you can find them here and here.

Until next year wedding season!

What I Wore: Wedding Style, Part II

I realize my outfit posts have been few and far between lately. Honestly, my closet is covered in a layer of dust, half of my sweaters still aren't unpacked, and neither are my fall shoes/boots. Until our bathroom renovation is done, my daily work wear isn't all the exciting. It's more of a what's not wrinkled/ what's not covered in dust decision lately. I'm hoping to have an hour or two this weekend to get out my cooler clothes and put away the summer ones. Oh and clean up the contractor's mess! Ugh.

So until then, I'd love to share the rest of my wedding outfits this week and next. If you missed my first recap, you can find it here. As I've mentioned before (and recapped here and here) we had two weddings Labor Day Weekend. Not only did I love the weddings themselves, but I just loved the dresses I was able to wear. One thing I can recommend now, tailoring. It makes such a difference. And depending on what you need done, it can be reasonably priced.

Wedding #1
Dress: Lily Pulitzer (via Rue La La)

Tip: I googled the dress name before buying since it was a clearance, final sale item and found many reviews. Including, and most helpful, Rent the Runway where reviewers can leave photos of themselves in the dress (here). This was incredibly helpful!

Wedding #2
Dress: Modcloth

I didn't do so well getting photos of my dress at this wedding. Especially since the back is the best part! Check the link above.

With so many weddings this year, I only bought dresses if they were reasonably priced, on sale, etc. The final sale deals on Rue La La can be totally worth it if you know what size you need (since they're usually final sale).

What's your favorite shop/site to buy dresses?
My go-to's tend to be J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Rue La La

A Wedding Weekend in the Mountains

In equal parts sadness and relief, we have wrapped up our 2013 wedding season. This past weekend we headed up to Maine for our final wedding. It was such a great way to end wedding season! J picked me up at noon Friday at work and we jetted off to Sunday River for the weekend.

Although the ride can be long, like I mentioned Monday, the views once you get off the highway are beautiful. They always make us appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us. They make me want to get all earthy-crunchy, eat local foods, and hike up a mountain! Not that we had the time to do any of that, but attending Bob & Emma's wedding was a little more important.

Rehearsal

And the reason we had to get up there the night before the wedding? J officiated the wedding! So attending the rehearsal was an absolute must. Once I saw where Emma & Bob's ceremony would take place, I was so excited. A covered bridge?!! After everyone was comfortable with their part in Bob & Emma's big day, we headed to the rehearsal dinner at the Bethel Inn. What a great place this was too. So quaint.

After partying a little too hard at G&N's wedding rehearsal last month, and wanting to take advantage of the hotel gym Saturday morning, I behaved myself and headed to bed at a reasonable hour. We haven't been to a gym since we moved out of the city and let me tell you, I am still sore! But it felt great to do something other than run for once.

Due to his officiating duties, J had to be ready a little earlier than I did for this wedding. So I took advantage of the empty room to take a few self-timed outfit photos without feeling like a weirdo. I'll be sharing the rest of this wedding season's outfits in the coming weeks!

The Ceremony

I can't think of a more quintessential Maine, mountains, quaint ceremony than this. It was gorgeous. Not only was there a covered bridge but we all were seated within it! The small details were perfect too, birch candles, wispy flowers, an adorable chalk board.

Maybe I'm bias but J did such a great job officiating this wedding. While he remained professional the entire time, there was one slip up during the ceremony - when a wedding ring may have been dropped on the bridge - where J was able to make the crowd laugh (after the ring was safely recovered). There's the J we all love! It's always nice when the groom's father tells you that not only did your husband do a great job, but he might just have a second calling and a second income! ha. But really....can you get on that J, I have a laundry list of expenses you could help out with (see the investments section here).
Mr. & Mrs. !

The Reception

Ok, this was another wedding where I didn't do all that well documenting....Bob and J used to work together and our table was many of J's former co-workers. I didn't think it would be too appropriate of me to be glued to my camera my first time meeting these people. Especially since J still works with them regularly. But man did we have a great night.
Absolutely loved the mercury glass vases

The brothers & the groom / Work friends

Well this is a great photo of the newlyweds, other than the photo bomb...Thanks Dan!

Congratulations Emma & Bobby! We were so happy to be apart of your big day. It was absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be more excited for you.

xoxo, T
