Another Brother off the Market

I had all intentions of getting this post together for Monday and start off this week of wedding recaps right. But then we had a wedding Saturday night and friends over for the Sunday football games. In all seriousness I could have gone to bed at 8:30 Sunday night. I kept myself busy until 9 before calling it a night. 3 weddings in 8 days....I was exhausted.

Our week of weddings started out with a family affair. Another brother is married! And it was such a beautiful day. Dating since high school, Greg and Nat wasted no time planning their big day once Greg popped the question last fall. They took an approach similar to J & I - why wait? And we couldn't be happier for them.

So let's see, G&N held both their ceremony and reception at the Squantum Association in East Providence, RI. This place is a hidden gem! I couldn't get over how awesome this venue was. Old school social club meets yacht club feel. Lots of elegant millwork, leather chairs, oriental rugs and a great water view.

Here are a few pictures I snapped during the rehearsal the night before. Dinner (and some great speeches) followed at McCormik & Schmiks.

The rehearsal dinner hosts (love these two!)

For those of that don't know, or maybe you do and you need a link to their site (ha!) Greg has started his own shoe company with a partner, New England Outerwear. We're talking amazing, leather, 100% made in the USA top notch shoes. He surprised all of the groomsmen with newly designed loafers as gifts. Seriously?!

oops, groom moving a little too fast...

The day of the wedding, my sister-in-law Meg and I decided to get our hair done at a nearby salon before meeting up with the bridal party and heading over to the venue. When it was time to go, I met all the ladies in the bridal suite before catching our shuttle. I don't even know how to describe the feeling and emotion that came over me upon seeing Natalie in her wedding dress. I couldn't help but tear up, she looked so beautiful! Instead of being there while she got her makeup done, and her hair done, and put her dress on, seeing it all together was really exciting. I think my jaw hit the floor. I guess it's probably what it's like for the groom when he first sees his beautiful bride (times a million for the groom!).

It was so sweet of Nat to include Meg and I in her few final moments before the wedding. For me, it was really nice to be as helpful as needed - running between the bridal parties with missing boutonnieres, wrong boutonnieres, late shuttle messages, etc. Running in heels on a seashell path...not so fun ha. But it was so nice to be involved.

The Ceremony

I love catching these moments, brides mom looking her way and the grooms mom watching his reaction.

Husband & wife!

The Formals

Pretty good looking family if I do say so myself

Where we all got our good looks from, our mommas.

But, this post is getting too long! Reception pictures to follow tomorrow.

Fun Fact Friday 9.06.13

Did anyone else feel like this was the longest short work week ever? No? Just me? Not that I should complain since I used to work crazy hours through the 9/15 corporate tax deadline but man this week went by slow. Very happy to see Friday roll around.

Even though I've already recapped our holiday weekend (minus the weddings), I have plenty to share. Don't you worry.

1. Tucker spent a few nights with my parents last weekend while J and I shuffled between weddings. And he just loves his bff Bruno's spare bed. It's a memory foam that my parents picked up at Petco and its plenty cushy. Heck I'd nap on it. I've been meaning to order Tucker a new bed since we moved. I promised him one. His size Medium, worn in bed just isn't cutting it anymore. This boy has gotten big in the last couple years! This is how I found him the other night. A bit dramatic no? I have never seen a dog kick their bed aside before.
Your new bed is on its way sir. Size XL. Now get off my Moroccan rug!

2. I found myself painting again the other night. Obviously with a glass of wine. I recently purchased some frames matted down to 5x7 that I'm planning to cut this down to fit (its on 9x12 paper). Maybe frame 2? Such an easy way to add a pop of color to a room.

3. I splurged...and I'm so excited to test this out tomorrow morning on our long run. Wednesday morning we decided to push our run a little bit and ended up running an extra 2 miles, thinking it was just an extra mile. We both felt great and I really wish I knew what our pace was. This (Garmin Forerunner 10) is certainly one of the more affordable options if you're looking, and the reviews are great.

4. This week in the bathroom renovation decisions....it's granite time! We've been hoping to find a remnant large enough to cut a double sink vanity, bench seat, threshold to the shower, and two ledges which the shower glass will sit upon. Crazy, right? But it will look incredible. Here are a few options we have, given our requirements. And I think one just might work out perfectly...

5. And lastly, have I made you wait long enough? A glimpse at the bathroom space! (Here's what we started with)

Yes, that is plumbing for two shower heads. Bom chicka wah wah.  Haha I am so sorry, I had to.

And the grouted, dirty (sorry!) floor. 12x24" tiles laid in a running board pattern, perpendicular with the vanity & shower wall:

Unfortunately, our contractor is at a little bit of a standstill until we pick the granite, even though the vanity isn't in yet. The bench piece needs to go in before the walls are tiled, the walls need to be tiled before the shower floor gets tiled, and the batten board can't be properly measured until the granite ledges are installed on the half walls (so that the batten board is even with it). Oops. So ya, granite decision being made today!

Any weekend plans for you?
We are heading to the Cape for a friend's wedding! I cannot wait.

Expect next week to be a wedding week extravaganza. I have so much to fill you in on.

Have a fantastic weekend!

LDW Recap

How in the world has it been a week since I last blogged?! Sorry friends. Life has been flying by lately, in the best kind of way.

I plan on providing more detailed posts about the weddings we had this weekend when I have time to catch my breath and process all of the pictures, but let me tell you- we had such a blast this weekend! Two of the most amazing weddings back to back. J and I are so lucky to have such an incredible group of family and friends.

So for now, here's what else we did this weekend:

Anyone else enjoy the Labor Day shopping sales?! Ann Taylor got me, my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Gotta love being walking distance to Providence Place for wedding #1 this weekend! I walked away with these three tops.

 1 / 2 / 3

And on the way home, J and I got a steal at the Restoration Hardware Outlet. Yes, I was just there recently. But you see, J is a stickler in stores where I could easily wander for hours and makes sure I know we're there for one reason. So when we went for the vanities, I didn't consider looking at lighting. We snagged 3 of these lights for $267. Yes, you read that price at RH for one right. Sold! Cross your fingers they work out perfectly because we LOVE them. And- they gave me a 25% off entire purchase coupon good at the end of this month. Yesss.
Maritime Caged Sconce -  Restoration Hardware

After wedding #2 we headed home for a lobster cookout at my parents. They did it last year (J and I were jet setting at the time) and had so much fun they decided to host it again. Twist my arm, I guess you can make me lobster and steamers for dinner with grilled corn on the cob.

We surprised my aunt with this fresh fruit, cool whip, pound cake birthday dessert and spent time playing bocce in the yard. Oh, and my crazy dog decided he liked swimming again. He is so strange.

Monday we slept in, caught up on Ray Donovan, and only changed out of our PJs to run a few errands. The fridge was basically empty, so it was time to get my butt into gear. If you don't watch Ray Donovan you really should. God he is such a stud. The show ain't too bad either.

Did you see all that lobster above? That was only half of it....so we were all sent home with leftovers. Yess! Although we were originally planning on lobster rolls, I needed more butter with my lobster. So J whipped up the most incredible meal - lemon, garlic, butter sauce with dried oregano, fresh parsley, and tomatoes from my parents garden. Oh and basil linguini I had randomly picked up. It was ah-mazing.

How was your holiday weekend?

Stay tuned Friday for a sneak peek at our bathroom renovation. Things are starting to come together nicely. Eek! :)

Have a great day
